An open letter to my friends and Ministerial Volunteers ...St Mary's Choir,
I have thought about writing this missive for quite some time and finally decided that time is escaping me and many of us, and therefore I should delay no longer. This is not meant to be somber but just reality.
There are several aspects of our ministry that I wish to cover.
First - To thank you for deciding to join our choir and sharing not only your gifts of musical talent but also your gifts of cooperation and patience and for your dedication and boundless commitment to this special group.
Secondly - For the happy, friendly, caring and loving people that you all are, from the youngest too the oldest, creating this very special musical family.
And Thirdly - Without the above, St. Mary of the Assumption Parish would suffer greatly from a lack of the additional spirituality and community that music and singing of hymns inspires. Additionally, all that we do, we do for the Glory of God. Our efforts are to enhance the liturgy with appropriate hymns and music, not for our own glory but for the Praise and Glory of God. I know that since we are human, we crave a certain amount of recognition, which is good because it encourages us to do even better.
The Music Ministry is, perhaps, the most demanding of all ministries because it requires special persons with God given talents to come together as a group, to practice many hours and then to participate during Mass and special functions - as a group or soloist - before a live congregation, which can be unnerving at times. I know the challenges in this ministry are great, but with God's Grace, we will continue to persevere.
With this thought in mind, I would encourage you to continue making those extra efforts to attend, whenever possible, our special functions such as Benediction, Stations of the cross, Youth Masses, Confirmation, the Living Rosary and whatever other occasions may arise
I appreciate all the efforts that you put into this ministry and I'm sure it does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
Remember Jesus' words...
"Your reward will be great in heaven."
In Faith, Love and Charity,
Your Faithful Servant
